Hilton in Crystal Bay

Hilton will be building a new Waldorf Astoria on the site of the former Biltmore Casino in Crystal Bay. Demolition is planned for this year and the new hotel is slated to open 2027. It will have 76 guestrooms, a 3 acre beach club and a poolside restaurant. The Lounge, Peacock Alley, pays homage to NYC’s Waldorf Astoria.

Project Description: This would be for the segment one portion of the North Tahoe Trail which is 2.5 miles in length and connects the North Tahoe Regional Park with Carnelian Bay Ave. The CAP Committee recommended $1.5 million.

Project Description: The Flick Point II Project is a multi-benefit project which features an
approximately 2.25-mile non-motorized multi-use trail, along with watershed and ecosystem improvements on the western edge of the Carnelian Bay Community near Flick Point. The paved multi-use trail will connect to the existing Dollar Creek Shared-Use Trail, before proceeding through the restored Watson Creek SEZ, and continuing to the neighborhood west of Flick Point. The CAP Committee recommended $70,000 in funding for planning and design. This serves as a match for funding for another grant this project has received.

The country awarded a $2M grant to develop a biomass facility in the North Tahoe region to find local solutions for the biomass byproducts of fuel management programs. See links:

The country made a minor amendment to Article 9.42: Short Term Vacation Rentals Ordinance that was inconsistent with State of California Fair Employment and Housing Act and community concerns. The original language of ordinance may be difficult to identify, enforce and uniformly apply to all property owners, agents and guests related to denial or revocation of STR permits. See link:
