Dollar Creek Crossing Housing Project

The County submitted a project application to the Placer County Planning Services Division on March 16, 2023. The current project proposes 110 total housing units: 80 rental units and 30 for-sale units. In addition, the proposed project would extend Dollar Drive from North Lake Boulevard to Village Drive, with a 10-foot-wide multi-use trail on the south side of the road. The project proposal includes open space areas, access to the existing Dollar Creek trailhead, and a bus shelter. This application is preliminary and the project details will evolve over the coming months as the project team works with the Planning Services Division, the TRPA, and community stakeholders.

Kings Beach Development

The proposed redevelopment project is called 39 North Lake Tahoe, built on two sites Placer County calls the “Eastern Gateway Property” and “Kings Beach Center.” The project includes plans for a 153-room hotel with commercial space on the first floor, 36 new townhouses and 74 income-restricted rental units designated for local workers. For theAll on the Eastern Gateway Property, the hotel, houses and shopping area would be between Fox and Raccoon streets in Kings Beach, while the workforce housing is planned for the intersection of Chipmunk Street and North Lake Boulevard.

While the land earmarked for townhouses and workforce housing is empty, the hotel and commercial projects would be built on lots currently occupied by several businesses. Many of the businesses have already relocated or closed, and the developers say they’ll assist in relocating commercial tenants, while Placer County will work with residents.
